Bio

Meet Sam! Born and raised in Society Hill, Sam enjoyed more than two decades as an executive in the world of professional tennis living in Chicago and Manhattan working for World TeamTennis, owned by sports icon and equality champion, Billie Jean King.  Sam returned to Philadelphia six years ago. A former Division 1 collegiate tennis player and avid skier, she was a lifer at St. Peter’s School in Society Hill, spent her high school years at Springside School (now SCH Academy) and went on to graduate from Lafayette College.

Origin Story

After years on the road traveling nationally and internationally and being homebound during the pandemic, Sam became nostalgic for childhood comforts and her old neighborhood..this became inspiration for a business concept that evolved into Sam Shaw’s Treatery of today.  The shop opened in January of 2022 and features an array of Sam’s handpicked favorites including fresh baked cookies (baked onsite daily), artisan olive oils and balsamics, placemats, coasters and trivets from France, unique bamboo bowls and a collection of lifestyle products from South Africa. The retail environment provides a space to treat yourself and others.  Sam’s goal is to help revitalize the small business community along South Street.
